Job Description
Overview The Public Works Technician II-Street Cleaning position operates and drives sweeper trucks. This position is essential due to the importance of keeping the City's curb and gutters clean and flowing, along with our MS4 discharge permit.
Responsibilities •Obey all traffic laws while operating fleet vehicles and equipment, including a motorized street sweeper, from one location to another.
•Be able to operate on even or uneven terrain such as streets and earthen rights-of-way.
•Perform daily pre/post-trip inspections on all types of equipment and vehicles.
•Perform with a professional mind set and must be able to lead a team, if needed.
•Keep materials stock in vehicles assigned, must communicate when supply/materials are low.
•Able to work in high traffic areas and be able to evaluate safe work conditions.
•Clean trash and debris to maintain the streets and curb.
•Effectively conduct street sweeping to improve the appearance of roads, provide road safety, reduce flooding associated with clogging of storm water systems to reduce water pollution and enhance water quality.
•Properly sweep streets to decrease wildlife exposure to potentially hazardous materials.
•Respond to after-hours and weekend emergencies.
•Must work under emergency responses during and or after any city emergency event. Example: Hurricanes, tropical storms, ice storms or any other city emergency.
•All employees will work on an On-Call Duty rotation schedule and must be able to work different rotation shifts under emergency responses.
•Must be able to communicate with internal or external customers and be professional under any conditions.
•When given a request, ensure proper communication with the foreman, work coordinator, planner/scheduler, and assistant director.
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work •Non-Exempt - Full-Time
- 6:30am to 5:30pm M-Thurs/Tue-Friday
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

Minimum Qualifications •High School Diploma/GED
•Two (2) years of experience.
Licenses and Certifications Required •A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications •Class A CDL
•Class B CDL

Basis of Rating A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
